WorldNomads.com Language iPhone Apps Downloaded Half a Million Times
WorldNomads.com today announced that in the last six months its iPhone language guides have been downloaded over half a million times. The language guides are essential phrasebooks that enable travelers to communicate the most popular terms needed while traveling. With travelers downloading the guides from all over the world, the huge amount of downloads might imply that travelers are looking to be better prepared when traveling abroad. Italian, French, Spanish, Japanese and Arabic were the most popular downloads for American travelers.
Launched on November 15, 2008, the WorldNomads.com guides serve as a pocket partner to travelers navigating different cultures and languages. The guides offer phrases that travelers can use on a daily basis such as good morning and how much does this cost? The iPhone app shows the translation and also verbalizes the phrase for those whose accents are forever hopeless. In addition to the practical my name is translation a couple phrases have been included for the more adventurous traveler such as ‘those are not my drugs’ and ‘don’t shoot.’
“As travelers we felt there was a real need for a simple phrase guide, something that would help us get to and from the airport without listening to hours of DVDs,” comments Chris Noble, General Manager of WorldNomads.com. “The guides are free to download and cover approximately 40 key phrases that will help travelers stay safe and get around in a foreign country.”
Croatian, Korean and Swahili will be added in the next few months to the database of 22 languages currently on offer. To download a WorldNomads.com language guide or view the list of languages currently offered please visit http://journals.worldnomads.com/language-guides/
