Amuse releases My Living Desktop 4.6 for Mac OS X

Premier provider of video desktop solutions, Amuse, Inc., today is pleased to announce the release and immediate availability of My Living Desktop 4.6, an update to their popular video desktop and screen saver for Mac OS X. My Living Desktop replaces the standard still desktop with a gorgeous video desktop that plays high-definition movies of the user’s choice, and provides Mac users with an engaging and innovative way to enhance their Macintosh experience.

With a focus on intuitive ease-of-use, My Living Desktop is a unique cross between a video desktop (moving wallpaper) and screen saver, offering an entirely new dimension in personalized computing experience. With its built-in video importer, users can customize their desktop experience by importing personal scenes such as family, friend, and special events for use as video desktops and as gorgeous screen savers. The application boasts an extensive collection of stunning, high-definition movie videos shot from all around the globe, accompanied with relaxing nature sound effects. Upon purchase, the software automatically downloads 45 hi-definition movie videos.

An extremely popular feature, My Living Desktop sports Automatic Serenity Breaks, which allows the user to set My Living Desktop to remind them to take a break. The user simply specifies the Serenity Break interval or time(s) of day, and at the appropriate time a pleasant sound chimes, all active work fades to the background, and the entire screen converts into a relaxing and absorbing video scene.

Version 4.6 includes many under-the-hood improvements, as well as new customer requested features such as the ability to hide desktop icons, showing only the beautiful and relaxing video that My Living Desktop is currently playing. Users can also now choose what displays on multiple screens.

Other features include the ability to automatically mute My Living Desktop’s sound at appropriate times. For example, when the user launches a music player, My Living Desktop can disable and/or mute itself. When the user finishes listening, the sound automatically turns back on.

Moreover, users may designate any set of applications for which My Living Desktop disables itself or mutes. Users can also set My Living Desktop to recognize when it is operating on a laptop’s battery, and disable itself to conserve power. My Living Desktop automatically resumes operation when the user plugs the laptop into a power source.

“My Living Desktop was inspired by the need for people to reconnect with nature and with themselves particularly in these fast-paced times,” said Kevin Kachikian, founder and CEO of California based Amuse, Inc. “Every feature we add tries to address that need such as our newest feature which gives the user single click access to hide all their desktop icons and watch the desktop video in full.”
