GyPSii On-Deck for Apple iPhone Launch in China

GyPSii, a leading mobile lifestyle and social networking application announced today its partnership with China Unicom to launch the new consumer-focused 3G mobile lifestyle service – Unispace powered by GyPSii, for iPhone customers offered via Shanghai Unicom. (Full joint press release.)
The Chinese mobile phone market with approximately 687 million subscribers nationwide is currently the largest untapped market for the iPhone. When compared to the 270 million subscribers in the U.S., entry into the Chinese market could signal significant adoption rates. Unispace powered by GyPSii distributed on-deck via iPhone, further expands the relationship with China Unicom, already in place with the rapidly growing Unispace brand. With Unispace, the company provides a compelling line up of applications including GyPSii (GeoSentric NASDAQ OMX: GEO1V) as the only social networking app on-deck at the launch, 1 of 10 applications pre-loaded and the only non-Chinese provider.

“The proliferation of mobile technologies in the Chinese market is stunning,” said Dan Harple, Executive Chairman of GyPSii. “People use GyPSii as part of their lifestyle: as a real-time vehicle to share their experiences, where they are, who they are, and what they’re doing. The technology invokes a new form of conversation that is innately mobile and based around where people are and what they are doing in real-time. After GyPSii and Unicom’s successful cooperation together during the Beijing Olympics, we are delighted to deepen this important relationship with Unispace and open GyPSii to Unicom’s millions of subscribers. We appreciate Unicom’s vision in working with us for this game-changing launch.”

Earlier this week the GSMA announced the nomination of GyPSii and China Unicom “Unispace” to Asia Mobile Awards 2009 in the category of ‘Best Mobile Internet Service.’ The nomination serves as third-party confirmation of the value-added user experience GyPSii provides.

Outside of China, GyPSii is widely available in app stores worldwide including iTunes, the Ovi Store, Blackberry App World, Getjar, Wefi, Turkcell’s Uygulama Pazari store, and the Android Market. GyPSii runs on all eight leading mobile operating systems – iPhone, Android, Java, Symbian S60 and S40, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and MIDs – and is compatible with more than 350 devices in 26 languages.
