Apple’s App Store passed the 10 Billion download mark, on Saturday . The event was marked by a competition for $10,000 worth of App downloads.
The winner of the $10k is Gail Davis of of Orpington, Kent in the UK after one of her daughters downloaded the game Paper Glider.
‘My daughters told me they had downloaded it and they knew there was a competition and that we may have won it,’ she told BBC Radio 5 Live.
Cult of Mac reported, The winner of the Apple’s 10 billionth App download sweepstakes nearly made a horrible mistake: she hung up the phone when Apple called to say she’d won.
“I thought it was a prank call,” says Gail Davis of Orpington, Kent, UK. “I said, ‘Thank you very much, I’m not interested’ and I hung up.”
Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice-president of worldwide product marketing, said :
“With more than 10 billion apps downloaded in just two-and-a-half years – a staggering seven billion apps in the last year alone – the App Store has surpassed our wildest dreams”.
